Finishing a necklace made of steel wire using a crimp bead.
Step 1:
String two crimp beads on the steel wire.
Step 2:
String a wire guardian on the steel wire in order to protect the wire and keep it longer in optimal shape. The wire must be threaded through both holes of the wire guardian.
Step 3:
String the steel wire through the same two crimp beads in order to create a loop. The wire guardian is now ‘stuck’ inside the loop of steel wire.
Step 4:
Place the crimp beads tightly against the wire guardian in order to keep it from moving.
Step 5:
Squeeze the crimp beads using flat nose pliers until they are flat and closed.
Step 6a:
You can now choose between two options (step 6a or step 6b). Either cut the redundant steel wire using cutting pliers or …
Step 6b:
... hide the steel wire in the beads of the necklace (repeat all of the above steps for the other side of the necklace as well).
Step 7:
Using a jump ring, fix a clasp to one of the wire guardians and an extension chain or jump ring to the other wire guardian.
Variation!
It is possible to replace the wire guardian directly by a clasp/extension chain (step 7 is in this case obsolete).
PAY ATTENTION! We however recommend using a wire guardian to protect the wire and decrease the risks of wear and tear.
