Using eye- and headpins

This is one of the most important jewelry making techniques. Using this technique, you can make an entire necklace or create beautiful charms/pendants.

Step 1:
Take a bead and string it on an eye-/headpin. Hold the pin with the skittle downwards and let the bead fall down.

Step 2:
Now cut the eye-/headpin using cutting pliers at about 1cm above the bead.

Step 3:
Bend the pin partly sideward in order to make it easier to create a nice symmetrical eye.

Step 4:
Make an eye with round nose pliers on the top of the eye-/headpin.

Tip! Step 5:
If the eye does not close entirely, it can be squeezed gently with flat nose pliers.

Tip! Step 6:
Before closing the eye-/headpin entirely, you could consider to fix a charm/pendant or eye pin to the eye-/headpin.
